Can I sync/link a Capital One credit card with QBDT?

I just set up a new account in QBDT for my Capital One credit card. When prompted to set up a bank feed when setting up the account, it asks me to search for my bank name. When I search for "Capital One" it brings up instructions that show how to download the bank data and then manually import into QBDT. If I instead pretend that it is a card from Chase or Citi, it then prompts me for a user ID and password. This seems to imply that it is not possible to sync a Capital One card with QBDT which would be a real shame. They've got 90 million cards in circulation, so they've certainly got the resources to make this work. What's going on here?

Can I sync/link a Capital One credit card with QBDT?

Hi @davidaj,

I'll answer this query for you about download methods for online bank accounts in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

There isn't anything wrong in your situation. Some banks offer either the Direct Connect option, or Web Connect, and in some cases, both. For Capital One Card Services, the supported method for download is Web Connect. The download method depends on what the financial institution offers.

You can check a list of supported banks in QBDT, along with their methods of download by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Highlight Bank Feeds.
  3. Select Participating Financial Institutions
  4. You can either choose Any services, Banking account access, Credit/charge card access, and Payment

Going through the steps above, if you search for Capital One Card Services under the Credit/charge card access, you'll get the screenshot below.

To proceed, you can refer to this article: Download Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop. It lists the steps on how you can download bank feeds from both download methods stated above.

In case you encounter any issues on the process of importing Web Connect files, open this article: Fix Web Connect import errors. It's a step by step guide on how you can successfully import a Web Connect file to your QBDT company.

If you have other concerns, leave them in the comments below. I'll be sure to get back to you.
