Can I undo a bank rec?

Hi there, nuclearnw.

Thank you for choosing QuickBooks as your accounting software. The option to Undo the reconciled account is only available in QuickBooks Online Accountant. I'd suggest adding your accountant to your company, and they do the process of undoing the reconciliation.

Here's how to invite your accountant:

  1. Click the Gear icon, and select Manage Users.
  2. Go to the Accounting firms tab, and tap the Invite button.
  3. Enter the accountant's information.
  4. Press Save.
  5. Let your accountant undo the entire reconciliation

If not, you'll need to undo the reconciled transactions one at a time. You can use this article for reference: How to Unreconcile a Transaction or Undo a Reconciliation.

Please know that you're always welcome to post if you have any other concerns. Wishing you and your business continued success. Stay safe!

Can I undo a bank rec?

Hi mmkluesner,

Let me share how you can undo your reconciliation.

Yes, you can undo your reconciliation. You just have to unreconcile each transaction for that period instead of doing it by batch. My colleague suggested if you have an accountant who's using our QuickBooks Online Accountant plan, you can invite them to your company. They'll be the one to do it for you.

Our Phone Support Team will depend on the QuickBooks Online plan you have. If you have a regular QuickBooks Online account, here's how to manually undo each transaction:

  1. Log in to your account:
  2. Click the Accounting menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Look for the account that has the reconciled transactions. Click View register.
  4. Use the filter icon to only display those you want to unreconcile.
  5. Click the transaction you want to unreconcile to expand the view.
  6. Select the checkbox. This changes the letter in the box. Keep selecting it until the box is blank. This removes the transaction from the reconciliation.
  7. Click Save

Do the same steps to other transactions. Feel free to use this link for more details: Undo or remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

If you need further assistance with our Phone Support Team, you can use this link: QuickBooks Online Support.

Keep me posted if there's anything else that you need help with. Take care and have a great day!
