Can you merge two copies of a bank account?

Hello Carla,

 

Yes, you can merge accounts as long as they have the same Account Type and Detail Type. Before doing that, you might also consider the default and special accounts that you can or cannot edit, delete, or merge.

 

Here's how to merge two bank accounts:

  1. Click Accounting on the left menu and select the Chart of Accounts tab.
  2. Look for the bank account you want to merge.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow next to View register and select Edit.
  4. Change the account name and select Save and Close.
  5. You'll be prompt to merge the accounts. Select Yes to confirm the action.

The transactions under the merged bank account are moved to the remaining one.
