Cannot Connect Citibank Login (Checking & Credit Card) to More Than One QuickBooks Online Account at a Time.

Since QuickBooks Online started using OAuth to connect with Citibank, I can no longer sync with 2 separate QuickBooks Online accounts. After connecting to one QBO account, it disconnects from my 2nd QBO account. When I reconnect to my 2nd QBO account, it disconnects from the 1st one. I only have this problem with Citibank where it will authorize Intuit as an app to only one QuickBooks Online account at a time. This didn't happen with the older connection type.

I have other cards/accounts with Barclays Bank, Bank of America, Discover that I have connected in both QBO accounts that sync with no problems. I wish that QBO developers would talk to Citibank developers as if I call Citi, they say it's a QuickBooks problem and when I have contacted Intuit, they say it's a Citi problem. I can't believe that I am the only one with 2 QBO accounts (one for business and one for personal) that have the same Citibank accounts in both.

Thanks for getting back to the Community page.

Currently, there’s an investigation with the connection of Citibank to QuickBooks Online. This is the reason why you’re unable to connect them successfully without disconnecting.

It would be great to contact our Customer Support team so they can add you to the list of affected users. Once you’re added, you’ll receive a notification via email regarding the status of the issue. You can check our support hours of operation before contacting them to ensure you’ll be assisted immediately. Then follow these steps below:

  1. Go to the Help (?) menu.
  2. Click Contact Us
  3. Enter “unable to connect Citibank to QBO” in the field then hit Let’s talk.
  4. Choose to Get a callback.

You can give this investigation number INV-45190 to our support for reference.

Once this issue resolved, you can check this article to get detailed steps for categorizing transactions: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online

In case you’re having problems with downloaded bank transactions or getting an error, here’s how to fix them:What to do if you see a bank error or bank transactions won’t download

Thanks again for alerting us to this. Rest assured, our banking engineers now are working hard to get this resolved as soon as possible.

Stay safe.

I did get a response on the developer forum and they told me to post on the QuickBooks Community forum. That suggestion just wasted my time.

It is not that I am unable to connect to Citibank. Didn't you read my initial post? I can connect to Citibank but it won't stay connected when updating the same account in 2 different QBO accounts.

I was finally able to get in touch with someone from Citibank's social media team who was very helpful. Apparently, this is an old "known" issue that still hasn't been fixed by Citibank. They have taken my feedback and forwarded it on. I would suggest that anyone else that is having the same issue contact Citibank so they can see how many users this is impacting. I used Twitter as my method of contacting them.

Essentially, Citibank has security settings that will only authorize QuickBooks Online as an app with access unique to one company ID at a time. They need to be pressured to fix it so that multiple QBO accounts can have access to the same Citi accounts.

I am having the exact same problem.  So frustrating!

Yep. Still broken. If it wasn't for miles, I would ditch Citibank altogether. Unfortunately, Intuit is no help either. They just need to tell Citibank to make changes on their backend with a simple code fix.

I am having the same problem. This has been going on for over a year now! Needs a fix asap!

It's happening with the Discover card now after they updated to OAuth.
