Cannot download AMEX to Quickook pro 2020

Dear Sir/Madam

I have not been able to download AMEX transactions into Quickbook 2020 pro since Jan 2020.

I tried to deactivated and reactivated account, but was not successful.

When deactiviating account, Quickbook indicated

" YOU CANNOT DISABLE BANK FEEDS FOR THIS ACCOUNT BECAUSE THEER ARE DOWNLOADED TRANSACTION THAT NEED TO BE ADDED TO REGISTER"

However, I have been manually entered all transactions since Jan 2020.

Please advise.

Thank you

Laurence

Cannot download AMEX to Quickook pro 2020

Hello, Laurence.

I hope you're well. I'll gladly help you resolve the error message when disconnecting your bank account. Not only that, I'm happy to share some solutions to help you download your AMEX transactions again.

Before anything else, I'd like to address the issue regarding the AMEX download issue before deactivating and reactivating the account. Did you encounter any specific errors when you tried to manually download the transactions? More details would help.

In the meantime, let's check these factors that might've contributed to the issue:

  • There are pending alerts in your AMEX account that you need to check or acknowledge.
  • There might be an issue with their connection. If this is the case, check AMEX's support.

If you've encountered a specific error message, do the steps in this article to resolve it: Fix OL and OLSU Bank Feeds errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

Going back to the account deactivation issue, ensure that you don't have any transactions left in the bank feeds. Just to clarify, have you already matched those downloaded transactions manually? Or did you just entered the records in QuickBooks Desktop (without matching or categorizing them in the bank feeds)?

Either way, the error message will appear when you try and disable the connected bank account. To fix this, categorize, match or delete those transactions. Here's how:

  1. Go to Banking, then hover your mouse on Bank Feeds.
  2. Choose Bank Feeds Center
  3. Choose your connected AMEX account
  4. Click the Transaction List button.
  5. Match, categorize, or delete the transactions.

Once done, disconnect and reactivate the account again. Also, this article will guide you on how to manage your bank transactions: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you're still not able to fix the error after reactivating or doing the steps in the article, import a .CSV or .QBO file to bring in your recent or old transactions. Follow the steps in this article: Import web connect (.qbo) files. Once done, categorize them accordingly.

When you're ready, reconcile your AMEX account. If you need a guide, check out this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop
