Thank you for reporting this behavior, BinhTran.

I can help you with the basic troubleshooting steps. However, I'll let you contact our QB Desktop Support if the error persists.

The error says the program script of the page with the URL displayed has a function (something about programming) in Line 64 Character 7, named "includes," that is not supported. Based on the link, this looks like the program script of the sign-in page of Capital One, and you're already in the sign-in process, actually.

You can click Yes if you're comfortable running the script of your bank's sign-in page, and we expect that it will continue to the linking process. Or, you can contact our QB Desktop Support to have this checked first. They have the tools to troubleshoot bank connection issues on their end.

You may also try the steps in these articles before contacting them:

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have other questions about bank feeds. Take good care always.

I clicked Yes then nothing happens, return with a blank screen, click on the x to close the blank screen, return to the Step 1: Find your bank.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, BinhTran.

I've checked here on our end and there's no reported case about this one. There may be damaged data on the company file you've been working with. We can run the Rebuild Data tool is built-in to fix any company file data issues. Just follow the steps and detail in the Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file article. We can also repair your QuickBooks Desktop to fix any damaged components in the software.

Then, try setting up bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop again. If the problem persists, I'd suggest contacting our Technical Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue. You may send a message via chat, call us at a time convenient to you, or we’ll get in touch with you instead. To ensure we address your concern, our representatives are available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Saturdays, PST. See our support hours and types for more details about this one.

In the meantime, we can use the Web connect (.QBO) files. These are online banking transactions from your bank's website which it is downloaded to your computer. Then, import the transactions so they become available in your Bank Feeds. If your bank offers Web Connect:

  1. From Banking, select Bank Feeds, then Import Web Connect Files.
  2. Choose the QBO file you saved, then select Open.
  3. When prompted select your bank account.
  4. Select Continue. You'll see a dialog box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks. Select OK.
  5. Go to the Bank Feeds Center to review your transactions.

Visit our Banking page for more insights about managing your bank feeds and reconciling accounts.

Feel free to update us after contacting our support or performing the solutions, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Please reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Have a great day.

I have done some more troubleshooting, I copied that URL and pasted into Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge I got the Capital One Sign In, but when I pasted that URL link to the Internet Explorer, I got a blank screen.

Definitely QuickBooks is using the IE and having problem to get to the Capital One Sign In page.

Is there a way to change QuickBooks to use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome web browser?

Microsoft IE will be retired and go out of support on June 15, 2022 anyway.

Thanks for coming back, BinhTran.

QuickBooks Desktop (QDBT) works best with Internet Explorer (IE). It's the recommended default browser, and the option to change it is currently unavailable. There isn't yet an integrated way to change and use Microsoft Edge with QuickBooks. It's best to let our developers know about your request by sending feedback. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select Send Feedback Online.
  3. Click Product Suggestion.
  4. Under Product Area, select Other.
  5. Enter a few words describing how you wanted to use Microsoft Edge since some of the links you've visited are not working while using Internet Explorer.
  6. Select Send Feedback.
  7. Click Close Window.

I'm adding this article to keep your browser up-to-date while waiting for the coming updates: Upgrade Internet Explorer to open QuickBooks Desktop. I understand the importance of being able to use another browser when downloading your business bank transactions to your software. If your bank no longer supports IE, you can manually import your transactions so they'll be available in your bank feeds. Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities, then Import, and then Web Connect Files.
  3. Choose the QBO file you saved, then click  Open.
  4. When prompted to Select Bank Account, select either Use an existing QuickBooks account or Create a new QuickBooks account.
  5. Select Continue.
  6. A dialogue box will inform you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks.
  7. Click OK.

After importing your transactions, just add and match them into your QuickBooks account. You can refer to this article for the detailed steps: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop. It contains scenarios to properly categorize your bank transactions.

Visit our QuickBooks Help Articles page for more insight s about managing your business in your software.

I'm just one post away if you need anything else in QuickBooks. Just add the details to your reply and I'll be there to address them for you. You have a good one.

I contacted QB Support about this issue before I found the forum post and they told me they would have to charge me to look at it. I was on QB 2019 and I upgraded to 2021 today hoping it would fix the problem, but it seems QB is stuck in the past. For non-profits in particular, where everyone is a volunteer and there is no budget for this, it really pushes us to look for a different system (as much trouble as that might be)

I am getting the same thing.  I tried changing to IE and also edge as default and it still comes up with error.  I have one account that I added earlier this year with no issue.   I am now adding a second capital one CC and it wont let me do it.  This same script error keeps happening.   I copied & pasted the URL in the script error and it loads but I have to hit refresh button to actually see the login screen.  Unfortunately the script error stops the process in the setup.   This happens with all three web browsers (Edge, Chrome and IE11).  So if QuickBooks is still using IE11 default then who the heck on the team didn't see this coming and have the code changed to allow other browsers in the first place.  Beyond that, I am not even sure the browser is the issue as stated in previous comments.  My thoughts are that since the beginning of the year an QB update actually messed this up.   Can the team go back to version before and see if they can replicate this.  I am a former IT PM person so I know there is a standup every morning and this needs to be escalated.  If you look at capital one site they state they only allow chrome and edge (no IE11).  Does no one keep up with updates on linked popular accounts for bank feeds?  appreciate some feedback here. Thanks

Dear support

So if you suggest we go to add "suggestion box" I felt you asked us to do your job.   Basically, why isn't there a way to just have these issues be reviewed and someone there decide to suggest it for the customer/client as he or she may not have time or the knowledge on how to really word it.   Isn't that what daily standup is for ......to review not only suggestion box but look at these posts to review with the team. If customer service is number one to you guys then I would suggest this support thread for all issues be in a daily review to find ones like this to bring to next days standup.  Maybe someone knows something and communication can be improved.  Suggestion only, just an ole PM working accounting now after several years in software development.   just cant beleive it worked earlier this year and now it wont. Thank you

WORKAROUND FOR CAP ONES CARDS!

OKAY so i found a workaround.   I went into my chart of accounts and opened the capital one account i was trying to add to bank feeds.   I then went manually to capital one bank account and from the bank I downloaded as a QBO file.  Then I double clicked on the QBO file making sure my account was actually opened in QuickBooks still and a message popped up saying no account was found and you can select to create new or to apply to existing account.  I did existing account and then hit the arrow to show accounts and selected it.  It imported it and then now it shows in my bank feeds now with the others.  Apparently using the setup way from bank feeds to connect capital one doesn't work as it causes the errors we all posted but if you do the manual way as I stated above or if you select capital one card services it states how to do it manually.  So this is a workaround to get it going anyhow.  Yippee!  Please let the team know this workaround.  I can demo the problem and workaround if unclear.  Just tap me.  - Carolyn (sam1066)

Please note that unlike the others I am using QuickBooks desktop version Premier plus contractor 2020.  Thank you

We are getting the following attached error when attempting to download Cap One transactions.

We have tried Chrome, IE, Edge.  We have tried saving the QBO file and importing it.

We have tried disabling bank feeds and then downloading the bank feed again as well as importing the file again.

All actions result in this same error message.

Thanks.

Hi tekap!

Thanks for joining this thread and adding a screenshot. Let me help you in bringing the Capital One transactions into QuickBooks Desktop.

This error is usually caused by invalid formatting in the file you downloaded from the bank's website. Please note that QuickBooks Desktop only supports .qbo file format for web connect.

You'll want to follow the steps in the Next steps: Advanced troubleshooting section of this article on how to review the file: Fix Web Connect import errors. Then, re-import it.

If the same thing happens, please follow the steps in the Step 5: Create a test file section from the same article. This is to see if this error is caused by a damaged file.

I also included this article if you need help fixing data-related errors: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm up and open to other questions about bank transactions. If you need a hand in managing other lists or your data, let me know and I'll lay down some guides or details for you.

tekap,

I am also having issues loading a qbo file from captial one. Intuit support has wasted several hours with me so far and has not been helpful. I had one support person tell me last Friday this is a known issue and Intuit is working on it. It didn't open a ticket unfortunately.

Today I have interacted with 3 different support people and after hours of frustrating work the best I received was "contact the bank".

This seems like an issue with Capital One...and assuming we as users are going to be able to get better responses from Captial One then Intuit is wishful thinking.

I figured out how to fix the .qbo files so you can load them for now. The file downloaded from Capital One is missing the acctID field.

  • Open the new web connect file using a text editor, I used WordPad.
  • Confirm the acctid field is blank (it's towards the top of the file)
  • Open an older webconnect file and find the acctid value in that file
  • add that to the right line in the newer file and save it
  • load that into QB. It might ask you to map that file to a new or existing account. Map to the existing credit card account.

That will load the transactions.

Now, hopefully Capital One will fix their download to include the account id properly.

You are a lifesaver.  Honestly, I have no idea how you figured that out, but BRAVO!  All I have is this little thumbs up button, but I clicked it with gusto so hopefully that's worth something.  :)

Seriously though, it is embarrassing that we are mostly left to figure out issues on our own nowadays.  I spent 6 hours on the phone with QB support on different issue caused by a legacy option that was removed when I updated from 2019 to 2022.  Over the course of those calls, I learned that there was a still open ticket from over a year ago on that issue with no updates.  I was promised a call from a supervisor that never came.  I ultimately fixed it myself.

I was able to open with Wordpad and change to a previous version that works.  What I don't know is how to upload from Wordpad to QBD.  Can someone give me an assist with this?  Thanks!

Hello there, @KP850. I'll share some details about importing the files from WordPad to QuickBooks Desktop.

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), you're unable to import a WordPad file type since it is not supported by QuickBooks. You'll need to convert first to the format that is supported by QuickBooks Desktop. You can also look for a third-party app to convert, and it should be integrated with QuickBooks Desktop.

Please check out this article: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop  when you're ready to import data into QBDT. This article contains more detailed instructions on how to import data into QuickBooks Desktop in various formats, as well as a list of transactions that can be imported into QBDT.

If you want to learn how to your accounting data before, you can refer to this article: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

I'll be around if you need anything else or if you have further clarification in importing your data. Take care!

My question is once I have located the missing acctid value, exactly how do I get this back into the correct format to upload to my QBD?  I have added the line to the newer file but I'm stuck from there.  Help please!  I have so many credit card transactions to reconcile!

Hi there, @KP850

Thanks for following up with us.

If you're unable to convert the file, you can check into third-party converting apps, as my colleague mentioned above. This way, the app can convert the data for you.

You can see all our compatible third-party apps by using our App Store. To access our App Store, use the link I've included below.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Take care and have a wonderful day!

If you're using notepad, I just hit save.  It automatically saved in it the QBO format it was originally in.
