Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222; called bank & no changes on their side...I went through the trouble shooter in QB and copied the download to Notebook, looked for "&" found 2, but really not comfortable with copying my database and restoring the modified Capital one download.

This just seems too suddem to blame the Cap one download, which has been working for years. What happened & how to fix? Thanks!

I'm having the same issues importing the Capital One transactions. I'll reach out to QB support as described above. (QB Premier Plus Contractor 2017 desktop)

Have you been able to download Capital One transactions? I just keep getting error OL-222. Is the a fix or workaround?

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

I contacted QB through the Desktop Help chat and was emailed this workaround. It worked perfectly! Hope this helps others. You'll need to find y our qbo file in the Downloads folder, then right click to Open With > Notepad.

Also, make sure that when you Replace All that the replacement maintains the all upper case replacement. Mine defaulted to Debit and Credit instead of upper case. I had to go back and manually change them despite having upper case listed as my replace. (Notepad error, not QB nor Cap One error for that.)

Thank you for contacting us.

I am sending the information related to the issue/s we chatted about today:

  1. Open the qbo file to notepad.

    2. Find the  TRNTYPE that is similar to these:

    <TRNTYPE>D</TRNTYPE> and

    <TRNTYPE>C</TRNTYPE>

    2. Go to edit>replace or press CTRL H to find and replace.

    3. Under Find what put in the <TRNTYPE>D</TRNTYPE>

    4. Under Replace with put in the <TRNTYPE>DEBIT</TRNTYPE>

    5. Put a check-mark on Match case box.

    6. Then click on Replace all.

    7. Under Find what put in the <TRNTYPE>C</TRNTYPE>

    8. Under Replace with put in the <TRNTYPE>CREDIT</TRNTYPE>

    9. Put a check-mark on Match case box.

    10. Then click on Replace all

Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

I am having the exact same Capital One download error OL-222.

I called their tech support and they said that it was a Quickbooks issue call them.

I've tried everything that I've seen on his forum and nothing works.

Please help!

Yep, I am having the same problem.  No one is fixing it.

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

This issue has been escalated to our engineers, tom01.

The error is caused by improper formatting in the WebConnect file you downloaded. As a workaround, you can follow the steps above shared by APAlison.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend reaching out to our Customer Care Team, so you'll be added to the affected users' list.

You can check the status of the investigation here.

We value your patience while we're working for a permanent fixed.

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

This is not a workaround for everyone. I do not have the text that you state I should find in the .qbo file. Some of us might just have to wait until Quickbooks finally gets around to fixing the root of the problem.

Same problem here!!!! We can't do that work around EVERY time we need to download transactions. Need this fixed soon please! Can you please email me the solution when it's fixed. Thank you.

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

Thanks for joining the conversation, JLC2 and 101Office.

This banking issue is caused by improper formatting in the downloaded web connect file.

We need to find what's wrong and make the necessary changes to get it working. The workaround shared by APAlison, is the best way to locate the incorrect code.

Our engineers have already escalated this and Capital One is also aware of the issue.

Our team is actively working on a permanent solution and we should see a fix soon.

Please reach out to me if there is anything else you need about QuickBooks. I'm here to help. Take care.

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

Thank you, But that workaround does not work for me. The items listed to locate are not found within my file so I cannot execute that workaround. There must be some variations on the type of file formatting because I do not have those HTML lines listed in the file. There must be another issue. with the files that you all have yet to figure out.

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

We want this fixed as much as you do, JLC2.

The steps provided by APAlison is the only workaround for now. Our engineers are still working hand in hand to roll out a permanent fix as soon as possible.

While we're waiting for the resolution, I suggest reaching out to our technical support. This way, you'll be added to the list of affected users. Just follow the steps provided by MirriamM.

Please know that we're just around in case you need our help.

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

Thank you. That is fine. I am just letting future users know who may come to this page that this workaround might not work for them, as it does not work for me. I am fine with waiting, but I want people to be aware that the above workaround is not valid for all users.

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

I am having the same issue and ran the correction as stated by others. saved the file and now all my .QBO files will only open in notepad as .TXT files. I cannot get them to open with Quickbooks anymore! Now it has just made my problem worse so I cannot even do the other credit cards!! in the folder shows it as a QBO file, but my settings in the windows are only showing as notepad.

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

Hello there, @CEAccounting.

As mentioned by my colleagues above this issue is now being investigated by our product engineers. As of now, you can try performing the steps/workaround provided above. However, this might not work for all customers/users affected.

If you haven't been added to the list of affected users in this investigation (INV-33827), I recommend getting in touch with our Support Team. Once added, you'll automatically receive an email notification with the latest updates.

For the support's contact information, you can check it here: Contact the QuickBooks Desktop Customer Support Team.

Keep posted if you have any other banking questions, I'll be right here to help. Have a good day ahead!

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

I'd like to add two things

1) you can copy what opens in Notepad into Word to make the "find" & "replace" work a little better, and then copy back over into Notepad

2) in Notepad you have to save the file - choose "Save as type" click "all files" and then save your file but add .qbo after the file name you've chosen

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

When I followed the instructions and posted the transactions it now shows in the bank feeds section that the Capital One Account Balance is -8,000 and the balance in Quickbooks is 8,000

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

Thanks for joining the conversation, @Brian47.

There are a couple of reasons why the bank balance shows a negative amount. Check them out below:

  • Outstanding transactions.
  • New transactions for a connected account.
  • Duplicate transaction.
  • Edited or deleted transactions.
  • Credit Card (liability) account.

Duplicate transactions are most likely the cause behind the negative value on your Capital One Account. Let’s remove them, so both QuickBooks and bank balance match.

Follow these steps if you’re using the Register mode:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and select Bank Feeds.
  2. Choose Bank Feeds Center.
  3. From the Items Received From Financial Institution, select all the statements and click Delete.

For Side-by-Side mode, perform the instruction below:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and select Bank Feeds.
  2. Choose Bank Feeds Center.
  3. Click Capital One on the left side of the Bank Feeds window.
  4. Pick the Select Items to Delete button.
  5. Mark all the duplicate transactions.
  6. Hit the Delete Selected button.
  7. Save the changes by clicking Yes on the prompt.

Check out this article for reference: Remove duplicate transactions.

You may also, take a look at this link for other troubleshooting solutions: Fix differences between QuickBooks balance and bank balance. While the article is designed for QBO, much of the information is relevant for QBDT.

Re: Capital One Visa no longer downloading; error OL-222;

Same Issue here, any ETA on when will it be fixed? I don't want to try the notepad fix, that has failed to others and make other cards downloads stop working. Can we get an email when this is fixed and working properly?
