Thanks for coming back here, David.

I'd be happy to clarify your concern.

The transactions in the Categorized tab are the ones added/matched to the transactions recorded in QuickBooks. This way, it will be easier to reconcile the bank account.

With regard to your question, yes, the transactions will stay there. As a visual reference, I've got this sample screenshot of my test file showing transactions from the past years:

About the screenshot you've shared, excluding the transaction doesn't mean that it will be removed permanently. Once excluded, the transactions will stay in the Excluded tab and from there, you have the option to delete them permanently.

Here are some sample screenshots for a visual reference:

For more details about excluding transactions, you can check out this link: Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online.

In case you have missing transactions that were not added after the bank update, you can manually add them. The instructions are included in this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to leave a reply on this thread if there's anything else you need. I'll be around to help you out again. Have a good day ahead.

Great to see you in the Community, @david-cisky-net. I'm glad you've got all your online banking transactions in QuickBooks.

As an overview, all downloaded or manually uploaded transactions go to the For review section. It is posted in the Categorized section when it is reviewed.

For more insights about reviewing and classifying your bank transactions, check out this helpful link: Categorize and match bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

I'm also adding these articles with few tips to automatically categorize your transactions and match them with your actual bank statements:

I just want to be sure Katherine that you’re telling me that the transactions are in “categorized” forever?

Thank you for getting back, @david-cisky-net.

Allow me to share some information about categorizing your banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

You can review your work and make sure everything is correct in the Categorized or Reviewed tab. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu
  2. Select the tile for the account you want to review.
  3. Click the Categorized or Reviewed tab.
  4. Select the link in the Added or Matched column to review the transaction.

Once you Categorized the transactions, it will not change as long as you don't make any changes or delete transactions.

I've also attached some resources you can use to manage and categorize transactions in QuickBooks Online:

If there's anything else I can do for you about categorizing bank transactions, don't hesitate to visit us. I'm more than happy to offer help. Have a nice day!

Thank you.  I understand all of that, but what I really want to know is do your categorized transactions stay in that tab forever.

When I was researching today, I found where Support had told someone how to delete them.

See file attached.

Your help is appreciated.

Sorry if I sent thsi twice.

I understand that, what I don't understand is do categorized transactions stay there forever.  I am attaching a post where someone got advice from support about how to delete some.

Thanks so much for clarifying for me.  I have three years experience with QBOL, but brand new to linking to the bank account.
