Connect a new (replacement) credit card account to banking feed

One of our credit card accounts was reissued a new card.It is not updating in the bank feeds.  When I try to reconnect the QB account to a bank feed account, I get an error message that the QB acct "is already linked to a bank feed. Select a QuickBooks account without an existing bank connection." 

 

How do I remedy this situation?

Let's get this credit card concern taken care of and get you back on track.

You'll need to set up a sub-accounts to easily connect your bank and reconcile downloaded transactions in QuickBooks Online. Before connecting to Online Banking, you need to know how your bank sends the downloaded transactions. If the transactions download to one account, connect only the parent account. If the transactions are download to the individual accounts, connect the sub-accounts and not the parent account.

Take note that you can’t connect both a parent account and its sub-accounts. If you try to connect both parent and sub-accounts, you’ll get a message that the account is already connected.

Okay I understand that you can not set up a parent account and sub accounts, but if you already did that by mistake is there a way to correct it?

Thank you for joining the Community. I'd be happy to help share some insights about connecting the accounts to Online Banking. 

 

You can disconnect both accounts to correct QuickBooks Online connection of getting your transactions from your bank. To start, I recommend checking with your bank how they send the downloaded transactions. This way, you'll be able to add or match the transactions on the correct account before disconnecting.

 

After that, please follow the steps below to disconnect the accounts:

  1. On the left pane, select Banking.
  2. Choose an account you want to disconnect and click on the pencil icon.
  3. Select Edit account info.
  4. In the Account window, click on Disconnect this account on save to select.
  5.  Select Save and Close

Once done, you can reconnect the correct account to QuickBooks Online and download the recent transactions. I've attached an article and some screenshots for additional reference:
