Glad to see you here, @mhg604.
Allow me to share a few things about transfer transaction in QuickBooks Online.
The transfer type of event doesn’t have a Class or Location field, which means we can't add them to your existing transaction. The only way is to create a Journal Entry so you can allocate a class or division. Just make sure the class and the location feature is turned on. Then you can follow these steps below:
In case you have other transactions that need to reclassify, you can contact your accountant and invite them to modify the transactions for you. They have special tools that can reclassify multiple transactions.
Let me share this link that has different tutorials about how other features work in QuickBooks Online: Video tutorials for QuickBooks Online. You can select to view them each, I’m sure you’ll find it helpful.
Please know that I'm always around to help with any QuickBooks concern. Just get back to this page. Have a good one.

You will need a workarond to do that. Once you have converted your data to QBO, you may export the transactions data out to modify them in XLS and reimport back.
Just tried to post a reply and got a "unexpected error" Testing with this post before I continue.
1. Thank you for confirming that a Journal Entry is the only way to add a Location & Class to a transfer.
2. We have completed entering replacement Journal Entries for all Transfers and then deleted the original Transfer from 2014 to present.
3. Re-reconciled and verified our books, all looks good.
4. Migrating our books from QuickBooks Pro 2017 Desktop to QBO Advanced with extensive reorganization. Adding accounts that were formally tracted in manual registers.
5. Official cut over from QB2017 Desktop to QBO yesterday.
6. Thanks for your help overcoming the last hurdle to cut over.
Is there an official way to request a PMR (Program Modification Request)? We would find it immensely helpful if the Transfer included the Location & Class field. As a non-profit, we tag every transaction with a Location (Division) & Class (Fundraising, Grants, Administration with sub-classes). The workaround is to use a Journal Entry, but the Transfer would be preferred.
Thank you for the link to the training videos. I'll begin working through those.
I have some addition questions not specifically related to this thread. Should I initiate a new Message or continue this thread. Not sure what the preferred protocol is.
If I export a transaction file and make changes; then re-import the file, the changes will be made to the original transaction in QBO?
