Correcting a bank account number

After upgrading from a rather old version of QuickBooks Desktop (ver.5) to Pro 2016 Desktop the bank account number became corrupted (a random alphanumeric string) and results in annoying error warnings that I cannot seem to resolve. How can I manually correct this number?

Re: Correcting a bank account number

Hello there, scubajon00.

I'm here to help resolve this issue with your bank account number in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let's run the Verify Data Utility tool. This way, we can check  if it's a data issue. Verifying and rebuilding your company file resolve unexpected behavior like this.

Below are the steps on how to do it:

  1. Click File.
  2. Click Utilities.
  3. Click Verify Data.
  4. When prompted with error, click Rebuild Now.

Or you can follow these steps to rebuild your data:

  1. Click File.
  2. Click Utilities.
  3. Click Rebuild Data.

Once done, try checking your the bank account number again and see how it works.

For more detailed instructions, I’d recommend checking this article: Resolve data damage on your company file.

Let me know if you've got the chance to try the steps above. I'm always here if you need more help.
