Credit Card Transactions

I would like to know how to import credit card transactions after they are confirmed from the bank feed.  I feel like I'm missing a step because the transactions are not showing up in the account.

Credit Card Transactions

I can guide you on what to do after importing credit card transactions in QuickBooks Desktop, @shawnnaking.

QuickBooks may not always be able to match a transaction from an electronic statement to a transaction in QuickBooks that's why it's not showing automatically after importing them. Thus, I suggest you manually match it to open or posted transactions if this happens.

Here's how to do it on Advanced Mode:

  1. From the transaction, click the dropdown in the Action column, and choose Match to existing transactions.
  2. Choose the matching transaction, then click on Save and add to register.
  3. In case the amount doesn’t match, choose Resolve to split entries to balance the remaining amount. Also, you can add resolving split entries in an existing posted transaction for deposits and payments.
    1. When matching a money-out transaction to existing bills, change the amounts under the To Pay column to indicate full or partial payments against bills.
  4. Once done, click on Save and add to register to add the transaction to your books.

Please note that you won't be able to add split entries to these transactions using Resolve because they've already been posted or linked to your bank:

  • Open Bills
  • Bill Payments
  • Multiple posted transactions
  • Transfers
  • General Journal Entries
  • Sales Tax Payments
  • Paychecks
  • Liability Checks
  • Sales Receipts/Bill payments directly deposited to bank and not in Undeposited funds

On the other hand, here's how to do it on Classic/Express mode:

  1. Navigate the Banking menu.
  2. Choose Bank Feeds and then click on Bank Feeds Center.
  3. Access the Match Transactions window and from the Financial Institution dropdown, make sure the correct bank account is showing.
    1. Click on View.
    2. Download and view the electronic statement.
    3. From the Match Transactions window, make sure the Show Register is checked.
  4. Choose the transaction in the statement that you need to match to a transaction in the register.
  5. Choose the transaction in the register to match it. Make sure the amounts are matched.
  6. Click on Match
