Join nowHow can Credit card balances change after being balanced and reconciled when no transactions have been documented, accepted or even made? I reconciled the accounts on Sunday. They were balanced and I refreshed the site numerous times. I even checked it hours later before I was going to close the FY out. However, today the balances are all out of whack and yet nothing has been touched in QBO. No credit cards have updated, no charges have been made in QBO, and nothing new has been noted in the system. How can that happen?
Thank you for checking out the Community space, muenstermann.
I'm here to share some information about how the balances changed.
QuickBooks depends on the information shared by your bank when updating the account balance. There might be new transactions that are not yet on your record. The good thing is, you're able to reconcile your account before its balance updates. I'll suggest checking the Audit Log if there were entries added.
Here's how:
1. Go to the Settings ⚙.
2. Click the Audit log under Tools.
3. Locate if there are recent transactions after reconcile.
4. Click View under the HISTORY column.
Also, you can contact our support team for further help. They'll be able to check your account in a safe session.

Unfortunately, that does not help. There were no changes in the system after I reconciled. The registry had not had any transactions added and the banks had not updated, nor had their amount on the credit card visible on QBO changed. Somehow, the registry did some unusual correction over time (2 days) that was not recorded.
I know on my spreadsheets that I downloaded they were all balanced after I reconciled. I am hopeful I won't have to go through 4 years of QBO and verify each individual transaction with the CC companies records.

Since no changes were made in your books, but the account's balance is changing on its own, I'd recommend checking your browser. It's possible this could have something to do with temporary internet files. Browsing applications store these types of records, but sometimes they can cause problems with certain webpages. You can open a private window and check its balance to see if it's accurate.
Here's how to access incognito mode in some of the most commonly used browsers:
If it's the correct amount, it's safe to say this problem's being caused by temporary internet files. It can be fixed by clearing cached data and Intuit-specific cookies.
In the event it continues displaying an inaccurate balance, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.
They can be reached while you're signed in.
Here's how:
Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.
