Deleting Credit Card Charges

Hi, New to Quickbooks.

I have a ton of credit card charges to review before they go into my register after downloading.

The majority of charges are from personal food, clothing, etc.  If I delete these does Quickbooks keep a record of the amount so I can reconcile?

Also, is there a way of deleting 150 Starbucks (for example) all at once instead of going

Thanks for following up. I'd like to provide some additional info about the credit card transactions.

 

Sometimes it's necessary to organize and delete certain transactions. However, if the credit card charges are deleted from the register, you wouldn't be able to reconcile them within QuickBooks. The system only pulls items that have been entered in your account to be reconciled.

 

I've got an article for you that covers the ins and outs of reconciling an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

 

It's always a good idea to talk to your accountant about which transactions can safely be deleted.

Deleting Credit Card Charges

I'd be glad to assist you with deleting credit card charges in your QuickBooks Desktop account.

 

At this time, QB Desktop doesn't keep a record of those credit card charges if they're deleted. The charges will have to be in your register for QuickBooks to have a record of them. 

 

However, here's how to delete credit card charges:

  1. Click on the Banking option on the top menu.
  2. Go to Bank Feeds, then choose Bank Feeds Center
  3. Select the bank account, then pick Transaction List
  4. On the Transaction List page, put a checkmark on the box column to choose the transactions you want to delete.
  5. Click Batch actions, once you pick Batch action select the option Ignore All this means it will delete all.
  6. You'll receive a message, "Are you sure you want to delete this transaction?", just choose Yes.

Hi Kendra H,

Just setting up QB. Entering and deleting a years worth of credit card transactions. If I'm deleting transactions and there is no record of  it how can I reconcile the account?

Deleting Credit Card Charges

In reading the account on deleting cc charges, I don't have a bank feed center?

I've called QB on my problem, they told me they would call back because the person I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about.

Here is my problem. I use QB merchant services. In the past my cc charges were on my bank statement. When I received the statement I would add up the fees and insert in the the Visa fee charges when reconciling. A few months ago the fees showed up in my payments and credits window, all of them from the last 3 years! I called my accountant, he said I would need to click on each and credit each charge. I did that. I reconciled this month, I have cc charges that showed up for the last 2 years. Some were for the reconciled month but some were not even listed. My accountant has no idea whats going on. I'm the only person he has heard of with this problem. Any help?

Thank you for answering my question about the deleting credit card fees. Your answer does not answer my question. I called QB and they couldn't give me an answer either. My problem is, the Credit Card fees from previous years are showing up in my reconciling payments window. I want to know why they are showing up. I can delete them, no problem.  This last statement there were cc fees from the previous 2 years. I have to click on one at a time to delete. This has happened several times.
