Difference in qb balance and bank balance

My quickbook online account and my bank account never matches even though my bank is connected.  This drives me and my accountant  nuts especially when we have searched all over for the difference to no avail.  Is there anyway to correct the qbo amount? Also, because of this, I cannot reconcile my accounts.  Everything was going fine until a few months ago, when we lost power. After that, it seemed like my qb went left field without any direction.  The program started debiting things that should have been credited and vise versa. numerous calls to customer service, we have that resolved, hopefully.  Customer service thought after this problem was corrected, the accounts would match, but that did not happen.  Any and all suggestions would be  greatly appreciated. Thanks

Difference in qb balance and bank balance

Good day, @northmainautomot.

Let me help you fix the discrepancies in your account in QuickBooks.

Since your account is connected to online banking, let's make sure to match and categorize all of your downloaded transactions before you start reconciling. You need to categorize everything to get your final correct beginning balance.

You can also review each transaction in the bank register and compare it with your bank statements. This way, you can find the discrepancies in your account. Here's how to review your account:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Search for your bank, then click View register.
  3. Review each transaction and compare it with your bank statements.

With regards to incorrect downloaded transactions (debits and credits), the way they show on the Banking page depends on how your bank classifies them. If they should be credited instead of debited, I'd recommend reaching out to your bank. This way, they can review them and correct your records.

I'd also suggest getting in touch with your accountant to help find the discrepancies in your account.
