Direct Feed with HSBC Fiasco

It is over 6 months since I applied for Direct Feed with HSBC banking and it is still not up. Despite countless online chats with support reps who have no idea how to support this I am told it is being looked into but have only ever received one email about it.  In the meantime I have no options for auto download of transactions.


Is anyone else being given the runaround or is it just me?

This is not any help, and I wish I had a solution for you, but if you scan the support community you will find many posts concerning banking downloads, not all are about your bank, but the trend is there


Capital one announced they are dropping live feeds to QBO starting today.  A local bank of ours did that several months ago with the stated reason being that their support staff was spending too much time with QBO users with problems that were not the banks fault.


The thing is that there is no contractual oblication between the bank and intuit to provide that download service, and the bank is free to update its pages, login criteria, etc.


The truth is that the only way to have an accurate up to date company accounting file is to make entries.  Then if banking downloads work, either direct connect or importing a qb formatted banking file, you can match transactions.  I never use banking downloads, I get a statement and do a manual reconcile, takes all of 5 minutes once a month, if that long.


Your choice of course, JMO

Thank you for this sobering reply. I have also been waiting for this banking connection to be fixed. If a bank has the liberty to do this, I wish that QB would have been a bit more transparent. I am considering contacting the Better Business Bureau about this matter, because I may have chosen a different  accounting system, or at least been more diligent about entering transactions, if I had known this would never be fixed back in October. Instead, I have been told time and time again that they were working to fix it...
