Hi, unpluggedpub1-gm.

You don't need to connect your bank to QuickBooks Online to start using the system. You do have the opportunity to add your transactions manually or connect your bank at a later point.

To begin with, let's add your bank account to the chart of accounts so you can start entering your transactions. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select New in the top right corner.
  3. Click on the Account Type drop-down to select the account type.
  4. Select the Detail Type to specify the type of account that you want to add.
  5. Enter the name of the account in the Name field.
  6. You have the option of including information in the Description field and an amount in the Balance field.
  7. Click Save and Close.

Once added, you can follow the steps in this article in recording your transactions: Add transactions to account registers in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, in case you want to use the online banking feature in QuickBooks, you can go through the following write-up: How to use Online Banking, Connect Bank Accounts, and Review your Bank Feed in QuickBooks Online. This will provide you the step-by-step process in connecting your account as well as tips on how to categorize them.

You know where to find me if you have any other banking concerns or anything in QuickBooks. I'd be glad to answer them for you. Have a nice day!
