Edit transaction

When editing transactions on credit cards or from the bank, I can't save the edit. I get a pop-up box that reads "This transaction's date is prior to your company's closing date. Are you sure you want to change it?"  And it asks me to enter a password I don't know.

Why am I getting this message?

Why is the password not accepting my log-in  password?

Edit transaction

Hi there, Adowning.

Thanks for joining the Community. Let me share some information about the prompt message.

The prompt message that you're getting will show up if you are trying to save or edit a transaction in a closed period. This means that a closing date has been set in QuickBooks Online (QBO) for your books to prevent any changes to transactions from before your books are closed.

You can follow these steps if you want to change the password:

  1. Click on the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. Go to Advanced.
  4. In the Accounting section, click on the pencil icon.
  5. Enter a new password in the Password and Confirm Password fields.
  6. Click on Save and then Done.

I've attached some screenshots, so you'll know what I'm referring to.1.1.PNG

To learn more about this, you can check out this article for your reference: Closing the books.

This should point you in the right direction. You can leave a comment below if you have further questions. I'm always glad to help. Have a great Monday.
