error message 66000 "another account is already using this number" when running payroll for the first time with current QB Online bank account which appeared in setup.  DO I need to set it up again as a new bank or what?

Thank you for taking the time to post in the Community. Let me share some updates about the problem when running payroll in QuickBooks Online.

 

We received similar reports from other users about the error message "Another account is already using this number. Please use a different number.". The investigation is still open, and our team has not declared a specific time frame for the complete fix.

 

They're still working on it and conducting a further investigation because of the issue when submitting payroll. But rest assured cases like this are taken with urgency and high regard. 

 

For now, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. They'll be able to add you to the list of affected users.

 

Once we have an update, our team will send out notification emails. Here's how you can reach them:

 

  1. Click the Help option in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Get help from a human.
  3. Choose Chat with us or Have us call you

Thank you for the reply however I do not see an option to connect to a human or chat under Help.  All I have access to is a computer Assistant which has not been helpful.  How do I connect with a human to get on this notification list you mention? Our organization is on a 30 day trial of Payroll so at this point it appears the monthly Core Payroll option is not functional for direct deposit, a requirement for us.

Also, how do I cancel the 30 day Payroll trial if this error is not resolved so Core monthly fees are not charged thereafter?

To contact our Payroll Support team, you may also refer to this link or follow these steps:

 

  1. After clicking the Help (question mark) icon at the top right, enter a brief description of your concern.
  2. Select Talk to a human.
  3. Tick Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us.

 

After that, your details will be added to our notification list. This will also help our Product Engineers determine the number of affected users. An email notification will be sent to you once this has been resolved. I'll also inform you here when we get the update as well.

 

If you still wish to cancel your free trial Payroll subscription. Here's how to do it:

 

  1. In QuickBooks Online (QBO), go to the Gear icon at the top right to get to the Account and Settings.
  2. Choose Billing & Subscription on the left menu.
  3. In the Payroll section, select Cancel.
  4. Click Continue to cancel.
  5. Complete the short survey and select Confirm cancel.
