Error Message

Hello Community!

After I have exported transactions from the bank, sometimes I receive an error message "Invalid Tax ID" when I try to add it to my Desktop Qbks. What does this mean? How do I resolve it?

Thank you,

Student ABC

Hello StudentABC!

There are possible reasons why you're getting this error. Let me share some details on how to fix it.

First, it could be due to data integrity issues. Another reason is due to outdated software. You'll want to update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

Then, create a backup of your company file and run the rebuild tool to fix errors on the file. Follow these steps:

  1. From the File menu, select Utilities then Verify Data.
  2. Wait for it to run.
  3. Go back to the File menu, Utilities then Rebuild Data.
  4. Click OK when you get the message "Rebuild has completed".

Here's the link for your reference on how to use Verify and Rebuild Data tool: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you've exported the transactions within QuickBooks Desktop, I suggest you download the file directly from your bank. Then, follow the steps on this link to import it: Import the .qbo file (Import Web Connect (.qbo) files section).

If the same thing happens, please check this link: Fix Web Connect import errors. This contains the detailed steps on what to do if you encountered errors in importing .QBO files.
