How can I change the reconciliation date when after I finished reconciling I notice I enter the wrong date?

Hi there, G---R-Home-Care--Inc-.

Let me share some information on your question about changing the reconciliation date in QuickBooks Online. There are things that we can do to change the reconciliation date.

If the incorrect date doesn't affect any balances, we can leave the date as it is. We'll only need to make sure to select the correct date the next time you reconcile.

Another way is by undoing the reconciled transactions and then redoing them. It can be done by accessing the register, and clicking the R status for transactions in that month until the field is blank.

It's best to reach out to your accountant since they can entirely undo the transactions and be able to help you change the reconciliation date. Though, we can still manually do it alone by the following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. In the  Chart of Accounts, find the account and select View register under the Action column.
  3. Select the transaction you want to unreconcile.
  4. Review the check column for the reconciled transactions "R".
  5. Then, keep clicking the box field until it will show as blank. This will "unreconcile" the items and then you can start once more and change the date.

I'm looking to only change the "Reconciled through" date.  Do I need to unreconcile the entire batch and redo in order to do this?

Allow me to step in and share how you can change the Reconciled through date, rjjoyce.

You can no longer edit the date since you've already reconciled the account for that period. You need to undo the reconciled account and start over.

To start, you have to go through each transaction through the bank register. Here's how:

  1. Select Accounting, then Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the account that has the reconciled transaction, then select View register.
  3. Locate each transaction, then see an “R” in the checkmark ✔ column.
  4. Select the transaction to expand the view.
  5. In the checkmark ✔ column, select the box with the “R” until the box is blank. This removes the transaction from the reconciliation.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Perform this task on all transactions for that period.
  8. Close the account register.

Once done, you can reconcile again the bank account. This time, make sure to select the correct date.

If you have an accountant, they can undo the entire reconciliation. If you don't have one, you can find an accountant through this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/find-an-accountant/.
