How do I add my American Express Business Checking account?

This is not a credit card. It is a business checking account. It is not in the list. There are a bunch of American Express options to choose when linking a new account but business checking is not one of them.

How do I add my American Express Business Checking account?

I'm here to help so you can add your American Express Business Checking account to QuickBooks, @finalframe.

In QuickBooks Online, adding American Express Business accounts require a few different steps.

To successfully add your checking account, you’ll want to create an American Express Business account on your Chart of accounts first. I’m glad to show you the steps.

  1. Go to the Accounting menu, then select Chart of accounts.
  2. Press New.
  3. Select an Account Type, then choose Checking from the Detail Type dropdown menu.
  4. Give your account a name.
  5. Click Save and Close.

After, you can now connect your American Express Business Checking account to your bank feeds. Here’s how:

  1. Select your Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Click Add account or Link account.
  3. Search for and select American Express Business account, then select Continue. You can also use your bank’s URL.
  4. Sign in with your American Express user ID and password. You'll see onscreen instructions if American Express requires additional security steps.
  5. Select the account you want to connect to QuickBooks.
  6. For each account, select the account type from the dropdown. This is the account you created in your Chart of accounts in step 1.
  7. Select the date range for the download.
  8. Press Connect.

Once connected, you can now start reviewing and categorizing your downloaded transactions. You can also read this guide to keep getting online banking transactions from American Express: What's happening with American Express connections?

How do I add my American Express Business Checking account?

These copy & paste automated replies are not helpful. As I mentioned, American Express Business Checking is not in the list of institutions. I tried a bunch of other American Express options but they do not work for their Business Checking accounts.

Confirmed what you said does not work. Again, this is a checking account, not a credit card.

How do I add my American Express Business Checking account?

Welcome back, @finalframe.

I want to make sure you can connect your American Express Business Checking account to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Since you can't find your bank using their bank name, you'll want to enter the URL of your bank's website when searching it. This way, we can verify if the American Express Business Checking account can connect with QBO.

If you still can't find your bank, I suggest sending a request to support your bank. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu, then click Link account.
  2. Enter the name of your bank.
  3. Click Still can't find your bank?
  4. Enter the bank's URL, then Request.

Your request will be sent to our Online Banking Team for review. In the meantime, you'll want to upload your bank transactions manually in QBO.

Should you need any additional assistance connecting bank accounts, you can leave a comment below. I'll be sure to get back to you, @finalframe.
