OBSE US version only offers USD. Multi currency feature is not available on any QBSE regions. You may have 2 options:
1. Open a QBO SA version to have the ZAR as the home currency

2. Keep using QBSE US version and open a virtual bank account at Wise to accept invoice payments in ZAR.

I have checked my test company and can confirm that this functionality is currently not available in QuickBooks Self-Employed. If you want to use QuickBooks in South Africa, you can sign up for QuickBooks Online by going to this link: Choose your plan.
