How do I change the bank that is linked to my QuickBooks Online account?

I'd be glad to help change your bank account in QuickBooks Online, @skipsnsx.

If you'll want to create a new bank account that involves having a different account number, username, etc., here are the steps how you'll need to follow:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and then select the Chart of Accounts tab.
  2. Choose New.
  3. Fill out the NameAccount TypeDetail Type, and Beginning Balance.
  4. Click Save and close once finished.
  5. Then, go back to the Banking page, and then choose Link account
  6. Look for the bank name, and then create a new set of login info. Alternatively, you can just search the bank name if it's one of the participating financial institutions in QBO.

If you mean you want to update your online banking login credentials. Let me show you how:

  1. Proceed to the Banking menu.
  2. Choose a bank account you'd like to change.
  3. Click the pencil icon ✎, and then select Edit sign-in info.
  4. Update your credentials like username, password, account number, etc.

For good practice, I recommend matching and categorizing your downloaded transactions to ensure they go to the right accounts and prevent duplicates.

Additionally, to make sure they match your real-life bank and credit card statements, you may reconcile them. Please browse this resource for the steps on how: Reconcile an account.

I'd like to hear more from you in the comment section if you've got other banking concerns. I'll be around to help you. Stay safe!
