How do I download transactions from my Raymond James brokerage account?

Hi les1,

There are two ways on how you can download your transactions in QuickBooks. You can either connect your James Brokerage bank account or use the WebConnect feature (If your bank offers this file type).

Here are the steps:

  1. On the left panel, click Banking.
  2. From the Banking page, click the Connect or Upload Transactions Manually button.

I've got this article for the step by step instructions: Add and Connect Bank and Credit Card Accounts.

Feel free to get back to me if you have any additional questions. Thanks.

How do I download transactions from my Raymond James brokerage account?

I have the same question.  A brokerage account is NOT a checking or savings or money market.  I am not sure that webconnect would work as it does not allow for a "brokerage" type of account in the menu list.

In researching this I found all sort of suggestions in the broader community (including using inventory).  The consensus seems to be that it cannot be done in QB as QB is not equipped with what it takes to track brokerage account.  I still find it hard to believe as many organizations may invest some extra cash to get some returns.

So far the best suggestion I found is here: http://www.teamtag.net/2018/03/07/reconcile-a-brokerage-statement-in-quickbooks/.   However I am not quite sure of the actual step by step individual journal entry process (debit/credit).  Would be nice if QB had a specific whitepaper/article on the topic of keeping track of brokerage accounts and investments in QB.

Hope this helps

Yes, this is bullsh*t.  When I signed on for QB Online they said in no uncertain terms that I could upload securities information.  This is directly from the chat string:

You: And can I download security information from a brokerage into QB Online (e.g. stock prices, investment income info)?

Jeffery E.:
yes, you can do that
