How do you import the "Category" and "Preferred Vendor" fields when importing products?

Thank you for reaching out to us here in the Community. Allow me to share some information about importing products to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

We can import products and services from an excel file to QBO. However, as of now, we don't have the option to import the category and the preferred vendor when importing products and services.

 

If you think this option is what you need for your business, I suggest sending feedback straight to our product developer for future product updates. To send your product suggestions/feedback:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Share your suggestions/feedback under Feedback page.
  4. Click Next and send your message.

How do you import the "Category" and "Preferred Vendor" fields when importing products?

It seem only logical that if when you manually enter a new product/service you can specify the category and prefered vendor, that when you do the upload/import you would be able to add that information as well. We should not have to request a feature that is basic and logical. Imagine you do an upload of 1,000 products to not have to do it manually (save time), but you still have to manually open each product after the upload and select the prefered vendor.
