Because QuickBooks Online (QBO) locks data once a reconciliation is finalized, there isn't a direct way to edit the closing date. To fix this, you will need to undo the reconciliation and redo it with the correct 2026 date.
If you have your own internal finance team, you can invite an In-House Accountant role to undo the reconciled period with incorrect closing date. Then, the in-house accountant user can follow these steps:
- Go to the Gear icon and select Reconcile.
- Click on History by account in the top right corner.
- Find the reconciliation with the 2027 date.
- Under the Action column, click the Undo link.
Once undone, go back to the main
Reconcile screen and perform the
reconciliation again using the correct
2026 ending date.
On the other hand if you have an external account with QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) access, you can
invite them to do the same process of undoing that period.
