Hello and welcome to the Community, @shoepic1984-yaho.
To delete your QuickBooks Account, you'll first need to cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription, to do that, select Settings ⚙ and then Account and Settings > Billing and subscription tab > select Cancel subscription or Cancel online > Continue to Cancel > Select Submit and cancel subscription.
Once done, we'll send the account administrator an email that confirms we've cancelled your subscription.
After cancellation, QuickBooks Online will keep your data for a year and will still allow you read-only access to be able to print forms and reports you might need in the future.
This next step will completely delete your QuickBooks Account and will no longer have it to sign-in to. This will delete your personal data that also includes all data entered in your QBO company. Before deleting your information in QuickBooks Online (QBO), I'd like you to understand how Intuit uses your data. We have created a privacy microsite to help you understand better what options you have control and the consequences when you choose to delete your personal data. It is important that you read the Intuit Privacy FAQs and Intuit Privacy and Security.
To proceed (delete personal information):
You will receive an email with information about what will happen next. This can can take a few days and up to 45 days. You will also see an option to cancel the request within 72 hours.
If you have questions, please leave a comment below, and I'd be happy to help.
I have a question. We are a non profit and trying to delete our account so that we can start over. We have done the "delete account" bit by canceling subscription but I don't understand how we are supposed to be able to start over without seeing all the same information that was in there in the first place. Can you help me please?
I can help you with deleting your account's information to start over, @gypsyfiddler.
You can only delete all the information from the account if your account is less than 60 days old. If it's already beyond, then you'll need to cancel the current account and create a new one.
If the account is less than 60 days:
If it's beyond 60 days:

So far I’ve deleted, well canceled my account. At this point it’s still good/active until 6/7 because that’s when it’s paid through.
my questions are:
can I start a new account/buy a new subscription now? I really want to get going on my bookkeeping and not have to wait.
will all that old data really be gone so that I can start fresh? The QB pages seem to indicate that I can use all my same login info if I want, but at the same time, this particular data will be active til 6/7 *and* they say they save my data for a year. I don’t want any of this old database. I am using this same company/non profit, but given what I saw in that database when I could finally access an older version of it (there were several, they are not combined I guess) we need to start fresh, completely fresh!
thanks for the help!
I forgot, I have another question. What if *we* are the customer? I don’t want to delete my own Intuit account? Plus we are simply starting fresh with the same company, and we’ve moved from the disc version to the online version (already converted) though prior to us (two of us are actually working on this) someone was working online, someone was working with the desktop version, and the two versions weren’t connected.
bottom line, our customer aka ourselves, is going to be the same, we just desperately need a fresh start!
Thanks for the reply. Let me share additional details about creating a new file.
The permanent deletion of your old QuickBooks Online account will be automatic a year after the subscription cancellation. That means, we're unable to manually delete the data.
You can still start from scratch even though the other account is still active. You can create a new QuickBooks Online account using the same login credentials. From the Plans & Pricing page, choose a plan you want to subscribe to. Then, sign in with the user ID and password you already use for QuickBooks. Check this article for more details: Create or add another company file to QuickBooks Online.
Also, you don't need to delete your personal Intuit account. The purpose of Intuit account is for you to easily manage your personal settings like user ID and password to all your Intuit products. Once you create a new QuickBooks Online company file, it'll automatically sync into your Intuit account if you'll be using the same login credentials or email.

I've recently deleted my subscription but it seems this doesn't delete your account only the subscription. Surely us as consumers have a right to request our accounts and data to be deleted permanently if that's what we choose to do. I received an email telling me that I can simply resubscribe any time and use the my existing data. I don't want to do this, I need the whole account gone so I can start fresh. Why is this so difficult? 😥
I appreciate your input from every angle, Momok.
Once your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account is cancelled, your data will be available in read-only access for 1 year and be deleted in the system from the cancellation date. They have the specific tools to pull up your account in a secure environment and help you in deleting your data.
