How to edit an old reconciliation?

A warm welcome from the Community, @sc2019.

I’m here to help update the reconciliation ending date in QuickBooks Online.

Since you have already completed the process and saved the reconciliation, you need to undo it to change the ending date.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to Accounting on the left menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select the bank from the list and click View register.
  3. Click the Funnel icon to filter the date, then choose Apply.
  4. Locate and click the transactions one at a time.
  5. Keep clicking the R field between the Deposit and Balance columns until the status changes to blank (unreconciled) or C (cleared).
  6. Hit Save.

If you’re using QuickBooks Online for Accountant, you can utilize the Undo Reconciliation feature to unreconcile the transactions by batch.

Once done, start reconciling the account and make sure to enter the correct ending date. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Reconcile.
  2. Select the account in the Reconcile page and click the Start reconciling link.
  3. On the Reconcile page, click Edit info and enter the Ending balance or Ending date, then Click Save.
  4. Pull up the account statement and review the transactions.
  5. Filter the data displayed by selecting All, Payments or only Deposits.
  6. If the transactions match in your statement, mark the checkbox next to the amount.
  7. Click on the drop-down in the upper-right, then select Finish now.
  8. Hit Done.
