In QBO, making the account inactive is also deleting the account. When the account is inactivated, it gets removed from the Chart of accounts, and other places where you can choose accounts. If the account has transactions, they remain part of your company data and it will still show through reports. Here's how:

Tried this and all I get when trying to make inactive is a delay for 15 secs and then a notice saying error. Tried all other options like updating consent and reconnecting to the bank which is sucessful ,but when i get back to the banking screen it hasn't updated. Four days ongoing with this issue, any advise would be helpful

Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
Safari: press Command + Shift + N
If it works on the private browser, you can go back to the regular browser and clear your browser's cache and continue with your task and making your account inactive. However, if the incognito window didn't work, you can use another supported browser.

Hi GebelAlainaM, I've tried all these action in chrome and microsoft edge but i still get error (There's a problem in saving your changes), any other ideas to solve this issue. Its only happening on the credit card account..... 3 x other accounts update fine. If i could delete this account on QB online and then reconnect, I should be able to down load existing transactions.
