Happy to provide some insight to the error you're receiving, @arodriguez1.

That error indicates that you're trying to connect your bank to a parent account in your Chart of Accounts that has sub-accounts, of which at least one is connected. To resolve the error, you will need to make the sub-account you have connected it's own parent or disconnect your bank account from that sub-account.

How to resolve issue in connecting Bank of America CC Accounts on QBO?

Hi Michael, Thanks for the response. This is what happened.

Previously, there were 2 main CC accounts connected to the bank. One parent (XX58) and one child (XX26), however they were set up as two main separate accounts on Quickbooks before. So what we did is:

1. Disconnect both CC account to the bank.

2. Make the child CC (XX26) a sub-account of the parent CC (XX58).

Parent CC (XX58)         - Main account

                    Child CC (XX26)   - Sub-account

3. Trying to connect again both accounts on the bank but keeps getting an error message.

Error Message: The account, XX58, has a sub-account that is already connected to an account at one your banks.

Question:

1. Why are we getting this error if we have disconnected both accounts on the bank?

2. How are we going to resolve this?

Thanks for providing an update, @arodriguez1

If you've already disconnected both accounts from QuickBooks Online and are still receiving the error, it may be that the disconnection didn't register on the bank's side. I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Online Support Team. They have the tools necessary to further investigate if the bank account disconnection process actually registered in the backend and can grab more information in the event our Product Development team is aware of any issue with your particular financial institution. It's super easy to get in touch. Check it out:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Click Help at the top right.
  3. Select Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.
