I'd be glad to walk you through on how to undo your reconciliation, Helen.

If you are an accountant, you can undo your reconciliation in the new Reconcile screen by following these steps:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right hand corner.
  2. Select Reconcile.
  3. Click the Reconciliation History link in the upper-right hand part of the page.
  4. Choose the correct Account and Report period.
  5. Find the report and click the drop-down arrow beside View report.
  6. Select Undo and Yes to confirm.
  7. Click Undo and then OK.

You can refer to the Undo a reconciliation in QBOA article for detailed steps with a video.

On the other hand, if you're not an accountant, you'll need to manually unreconcile each transaction one at a time. Please check out this article for more details: Clear, unclear, reconcile or unreconcile transactions

That's it! Please let me know if you have other questions.

I am so annoyed by the lack of functionality of this program. I went so far as to create an Accountant persona and this information STILL doesn't work.
I checked my history to see why my reconciliation was now $1700 off and it only listed a single item that was deleted, worth $352.  Now what?  I can't go forward? Completely ridiculous.

Intuit won't fix it. They have a long history of ignoring customers. Just pay the extra money for QBO for Accountants so you can get this basic undo feature. What a nightmare reconciliations are in QBO.

Re: No magic "undo" button but found a way

Hi all - I just experience the same frustration. I wanted to go in and undo a reconciliation, but there was no option in the drop down menu. I did figure out a workaround. Go into your bank's chart of accounts and manually unreconcile all the items, clicking the "R" back to a "C." Since the month I wanted to unreconcile was a few months back (June), and I had already reconciled July as well, I had to do this with all the items from June-July. Yes, all that clicking was a little time-consuming, but you can at least narrow down the date range of transactions using the little arrow thingy on the upper lefthand corner of your chart of accounts. Once I had clicked them all back to "C," the reconcile amount reverted back to the ending balance from May 31. From there,  I was easily able to re-reconcile going forward for June  and July. So, no magic "undo" button, but still fairly easy. Hope this helps!

Has anyone found a way to do undo on Quickbooks online?

Re: Same issue, no undo button, which is needed for a single...

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community space for your reconciliation concern. I'm here to provide some information that should help you get back to business.

This isn't the kind of service we want you to experience. We know how much time it can take when something isn’t working the way you need it to, which is why we make great efforts to deliver customer satisfaction at all time.

@andrew4, the steps shared by @IntuitPhoebe are applicable for user with QuickBooks Online Accountant, also as what @mjtdrivers mentioned. For QuickBooks Online, you'll have to manually undo each transaction to correct the reconciliation.

@thekolafamily, reconciliation can be considered critical as it may not reveal the root cause of the problem, or may even create more problems that you had set out to solve. That's why, only accountants with QBOA have the exclusive ability to undo an entire reconciliation without manually editing individual transactions. Additionally, we haven't currently received any reported cases similar with a missing Undo button in QBOA.

@laura6, not only deleted history can caused the reconciliation discrepancies. There are several reasons in QuickBooks that will help you identify discrepancies such as, an incorrect opening balance. To resolve it, please check out this article for the detailed steps: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Banking-and-bank-feeds/My-reconcile-opening-balance-is-wrong....

@accountant4, @michael7, and @elizabeth2, @megan3, @MrsC, and @leslie89,  there are no reported issue with a missing Undo button in QBOA. However, as mentioned by @Mistymtntops, you can manually reversed transactions in the reconciliation report.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Gear.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Choose the duplicate reconciliation account, and click View Register.
  4. Beside the Deposit column, double-click R to remove it, one transaction at a time.

The following article contains additional insight into this: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Banking-and-bank-feeds/How-to-unreconcile-a-transaction-or-u....

This information should help you with your reconciliation concern. Let me know if you're able to do it and feel free to leave a comment below if you have other questions. Have a nice day!

Let me officially report the issue with a missing Undo button in QBOA. I would love to be able to undo the reconciliation I just finished to change a typo in my statement ending date.

Re: Same issue, no undo button, which is needed for a single...

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Hue.

As what IntuitPhoebe and MariaAlmaT said, the Undo function for reconciliations is only available in QuickBooks Online Accountant version. Otherwise, you'll want to undo the reconciled transactions one at a time.

You can also invite your accountant to undo the entire reconciliation for you.

If you're unable to undo the entire reconciliation even if you're already logging in as an accountant, you can do browser troubleshooting steps to get rid of any cache-related issues.

We can use a private browser and try undoing the reconciliation again. Using a different browser can be a good alternative, too.

If you can do it successfully, we can clear the cache storage of your regular browser.

If it still doesn't allows us to do it, I'd recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Customer Care Team. They'll be able to review your account and further investigate this issue.

We'll be right here if you have other concerns.

Re: Same issue, no undo button, which is needed for a single...

Thanks for joining the thread, Jay.

You can follow the steps on how to undo reconciliation using QuickBooks Online Accountant here.

If you're still unable to locate the Undo option when logging in to QuickBooks Online Accountant, we ca do browser troubleshooting steps. This will help us get rid of any cache-related issues.

You can use a private browser (which doesn't store cache files). Using a different supported browser can be a good alternative, too.

If you can use the Undo option without a problem, I'd recommend going back to your regular browser and clear the cache storage.

Let me know how this goes so I can give you a hand.

Re: Same issue, no undo button, which is needed for a single...

Thanks for updating us about the situation, jay3rrr-A!

It's good you're able to do the steps provided by my colleague, @JamesDuanT. I'm here to guide you through ensuring that the Undo button will show in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

As what was mentioned above, the Undo reconciliation button is only available in QBOA version. If you're using one, you should be able to take advantage of this functionality.

Also, there aren't any reported issues on this. Therefore, clearing the cache and other browser-related troubleshooting can help fix unusual behaviors, like this.

However, since none of these steps work for you, I'd suggest giving us a quick call. Our specialists can securely access your account and double-check what's causing this to happen. They have the necessary tools to perform additional resolutions specifically to your account.

Re: Same issue, no undo button, which is needed for a single...

The bottom line is you CAN NOT UNDO a reconciliation UNLESS you are using a Quickbooks Accountant.

I used a different form of accounting for my business for 29 years and switched to Quickbooks Online this year.   I have been VERY DISAPPOINTED with the limitations Quickbooks puts on small business owners.  Since we are paying for your product, we should be afforded the same product as a "quickbooks accountant".  After all, this is our business, not Quickbooks, and if we need to

undo a reconciliation for our business, then we should be allowed to do so, without having to involve a third party.

Re: Same issue, no undo button, which is needed for a single...

Let me join in this thread, leslie89 and jay3rrr-A.

As what my colleagues shared, for now, only the accountant version of QuickBooks Online can undo a whole reconciliation. For regular versions, you'll want to undo the reconciled transactions manually

@leslie89, I suggest sending feedback to have this feature considered on our future updates. Sending feedback is the best way for your voice to be heard. These are received directly by our product engineers. You can do that by clicking on the Gear icon, then choosing Feedback

@jay3rrr-A, I see you're using the accountant version. You should have the feature to undo the reconciliation. Please try to clear the browser's cache as what my colleague @JamesDuanT suggested. Additionally, you can also try to use a different browser.

We're just here if you have further helps. Have a good one!
