I added my bank account to my Self Employed Quick Books account, and the transactions stopped downloading in February of this year. I can't import my csv file either.

I keep getting an error message when I try to upload the .csv file from my bank. I need to be able to download the transactions for the rest of the year. Please help.

Hi, @info-lauren.

I recognize you need to download banking transactions in QuickBooks Self employed. I'm here to help you with how you can import them into QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Before we proceed, what error message did you receive while doing the process? This way, I could share additional help for this matter.

Since you've mentioned importing transactions via CSV file, I'll share some mapping techniques so you can import transactions successfully.

First, ensure that your CSV file's column headers include the Date, Description, and Amount. Make the CSV file in either of these two worksheet formats. Take a look at this sample below:

Column 3 format:

After that, use a spreadsheet to import bank transactions. The steps are straightforward, as detailed below:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Imports.
  2. For connected accounts, click the Import older transactions link. For funds yet to be connected for online banking, tap the import transactions link at the bottom.
  3. Press Browse to find the CSV file of the bank entries.
  4. After this, all the transactions will be added at the bottom. Make sure to map the data correctly.
  5. Press Continue, then Done.

I'm adding a related article below to guide you further with the process: Manually import transactions into QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Furthermore, adding transactions older than QuickBooks downloaded initially takes two steps. See this page for more information: Add older transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please keep me updated on the outcome. I want to double-check that the entries have been imported, and I'll be right there if you need anything else. Have an excellent rest of your day!

Thank you for the help. I edited the csv file to be three columns like you suggested, and I received this error message "We've filtered out 145 transactions that we already got through your bank connection.

Looks like this file doesn't contain any valid transaction data. Check the file and try again."

The file does have transaction data, and I'm missing all of my transactions from March to the end of September in my "Transactions" tab. Do you have any other suggestions that may help? Thank you!

There is transaction data on this file, and I'm missing March through late September transactions in my transactions tab in my account. Do you happen to have any other suggestions? Thank you!

Good afternoon, @info-laurenmakow

I appreciate you coming back to the Community with some additional information. Let's work together to get this problem taken care of once and for all.

First, let's check the Transactions menu on the QBSE website and remove all the filters.

If your transactions don't show, check for any hidden bank accounts, since this will make the transactions under those accounts visible:

  1. Go to the Gear (Settings) icon in the top right-hand corner.
  2. Press Bank accounts

If there isn't any hidden accounts, I recommend getting in touch with our Customer Support Team to help restore any bank transactions that may have accidentally been deleted.

I hope this helps and gets you squared away so you're able to run your business. Reach back out if you need any more assistance. Have a wonderful day!
