I am Trying to reconcile bank account. Why is QB not accepting ending statement date and allow me to start the reconciliation

Hello there, giabonnis. I can help you with how QuickBooks Online (QBO) reconciliation works to ensure the statement ending date is accepted.

First off, if your reconciliation is not yet completed or closed, you can still edit the statement ending date by clicking the Edit info button on the Reconciliation page.

Also, may I know if you encountered any errors when reconciling your account? Let's check the closing date on your last reconciliation to ensure it's correct. This will help you edit your ending statement date.

To verify the closing date, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Transactions, then click Reconcile.
  2. In the top right corner, select History by account.
  3. Locate the last reconciliation and review the closing date.

If it's incorrect, you can no longer go back to change the ending date. You can undo the transaction from the completed reconciliation and reconcile again manually if you don't have an accountant.

However, if it's correct, it could be a browser issue. You can try logging into your QBO account using a private browser, which ignores websites from using cookies and doesn’t record any history and data. Use these shortcut keys on your keyboard to access incognito mode:

  • Safari: Control + Option + P
  • Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox or Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P

If this works, it means that you need to clear the browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result, I recommend switching to a different supported browser.

For future reference, you can check this article: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks, which includes different scenarios and links with a step-by-step guide on how to resolve them.

Let me know if you have other questions about reconciliation in QBO. I'm right here to help you out. Have a great day.
