The existing data file would be Opened in the new program, or Restored (if you use a backup from the old data). The new program will Update that data file.

There is no Import. This is like Letters. You get a new Word Program, but you work with the same Letter as the existing data file you already have.

You are making a Huge leap, though. There are reasons Intuit only supports a program for a 3-year lifecycle.

Your data is 9 years behind. That also was the when the data was changed to a true relational database. So, you might get lucky, or it might need some Interim Jumps. For instance, 2007-2010-2013-2016. Make sure to Rebuild for each update, and once it is open in 2016, run another Rebuild right away.

Only if in your 2007 version you have the option to copy your company file for Mac. I would also run the verify and rebuild utilities before and after the conversion.

I do not have a Mac. So, does that change the portability?
