Yes, in theory the two amounts should match, there are a few exceptions such as when you have a a master and sub-account setup for your connected credit cards. Double check to see if an opening balance equity amount was added when you connected the credit card account in question. Then reconcile the credit card account month-over-month to determine why the balances are not matching.

Hi there, @brooke1.

It's nice to see you here in the Community. Allow me to jump in for a moment and share some additional information about why your credit card and in QuickBooks balance is different.

@Regina_Lend_A_Hand_Accounting is right! There are also several factors may cause the balances to vary. Here's are some of the reasons:

  • Outstanding transactions.
  • New transactions for a connected account.
  • Duplicate transactions.
  • Edited or deleted transactions.
  • Credit card (liability) account.
