I have a large number of transactions that were posted to the wrong account. Can I change all of them at one time?

I'm trying to fix someone else's error. I have 4000 transactions that were posted into into account "1110 Checking Account" that should have been posted into account "1145 Credit Union". Is there a way to re-categorize all the transactions without changing all 4000 individually?

There’s a way to edit and move multiple transactions to a different account, @crossandcrown-fi.

I know that changing them one a time is hassle and time-consuming. Let me share information that helps fix your concern.

Reclassify Transaction Tools in QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) allows you to choose a group of transactions and re-class them into another account. This feature can also reclassify classes and sales tax codes in bulk. You can check this resource for additional information.

To make this possible, you’ll want to reach out to your accountant and invite them. Here’s how you do it:

  1. From the home screen, click on the Gear icon.
  2. Beneath the column heading labeled “Your Company,” select the Manage Users tab.
  3. Choose Accounting firms.
  4. Click Invite Accountant to open a new invitation.
  5. Enter your accountant’s name and email address into the text boxes.
  6. Hit Next, then click Finish once you’re done.

Your accountant will get an email with a link to your QuickBooks. From there, they can directly start working on your records.

QuickBooks has available video tutorials that give more knowledge and help manage your books efficiently. You can select each for your visual reference.

In case you need further assistance in the future, don’t hesitate to visit me here. I’ll take care of them. Have a good one.
