Hello there, bloodypixy,

You can enter a foreign address on your client's information to track the mailing entry. I'm glad to show you how:

  1. Click Invoices on the left panel.
  2. Locate the invoice.
  3. Click the down arrow beside Mark as paid.
  4. Select Edit.
  5. Click Edit work info.
    editworkinfo.PNG
  6. Enter the mailing address.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Click the down arrow beside Send invoice and select Preview.
  9. Send the invoice when you’re ready.

When creating an invoice, you also have the option to add a note stating the currency exchange in QuickBooks.

Then, you need to manually convert the money to your home currency when you receive the payment, It's because QuickBooks Self-Employed doesn't support multi-currency.

After that, enter the invoice payment through the Transactions tab. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Transaction menu and click Add Transaction.
    addtransactioninQBSE.PNG
  2. Enter the amount and a brief description.
  3. Browse the Select a category menu and choose the best option to organize your transaction.
  4. If you have a receipt, you can drag and drop it onto the form.
  5. When you’re ready, click Save.

@bloodypixy

QBSE doesn't have the multi currency feature. Explore opening a multi currency account at TW as the virtual bank and utilize the bank feed.

Mary - I have an "employee" that left and moved to Canada.  When trying to change their address through the Employees center it only allows US states.  Can you assist with this?

Greetings, @Alice13.

Thanks for joining this conversation. Allow me to chime in and share some information about changing employee addresses in QuickBooks.

Since you mention Employee Center, I assume you're using the desktop version for QuickBooks (QBDT). If that's the case, the option to enter the home addresses of your Canadian employees is currently unavailable in QBDT. The program will only allow you to enter US state addresses.

I can see how having this ability would be helpful for you and your business. I suggest sending feedback to our product developers. They're always looking for ideas to consider on how to improve QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. In the top menu bar, go to HelpSend Feedback Online, then Product Suggestion....
  2. Choose a Type of Feedback and Product Area (optional) from your available drop-down menus.
  3. Enter any suggestions/feedback in the Here is my suggestion: field.
  4. If you'd like, include your name/email in the My name is: (optional) and My e-mail address is: (optional) fields.
  5. Click Send Feedback.

I've additionally included a couple of detailed resources about working with employee profiles that may come in handy moving forward:

Just in case, check this article if you want to determine the proper employee setup for the most common visa types in the future: Exemption status of foreign employees with particular visa types.

If you have any other questions, I'm just a post away. Have a great day.
