I have my American Express account linked to QuickBooks. I just discovered that 2 months are missing. What should I do?

Can I manually upload those months? How do I do that?

I have my American Express account linked to QuickBooks. I just discovered that 2 months are missing. What should I do?

Let's get the account updated so it will sync again to QuickBooks Online, susan109.

 

American Express limits the frequency of automatic downloads. QuickBooks Online may only download transactions 2-3 times a week instead of every night. You can always update the connection to get the latest transactions between automatic downloads.

 

Here's how: 

  1. Go to Banking at the left menu. 
  2. Choose the account. 
  3. Click Update
  4. If prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials.
  5. Select Continue update

However, if the manual update doesn't fix the issue, you can manually download transactions from your bank and upload them in QuickBooks Online. Follow the steps below:

  1. In QuickBooks Online, go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu. Then select the Banking tab.
  2. Select the blue tile for the account you want to upload the transactions into.
  3. Select the Link account ▼ dropdown and then Upload from file.
  4. Select Browse and then select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then select Next.
  5. In the QuickBooks account ▼ dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into. Then select Next.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then select Next.
  7. When you're ready, select Let's go.

Please know that manual uploading of those missing transactions may cause duplicates. You can exclude them so it doesn't appear in your register.

 

For reference, you can run reports for a specific account to check transactions that are downloaded.
