I'm here to make sure there are no duplicate entries in your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account, @penelopemayandco.

Excluding transactions is one of the options to remove duplicates in QuickBooks. Doing this won’t impact your reports in the system and tax calculations.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. Find those duplicates transactions.
  3. You can select it to expand the view and put a checkmark on the box that says “Exclude this transaction (this is for duplicates, reimbursements, customer refunds, and returned purchases).”
  4. Hit the Save button.

You can also mark the box located on their side. Then click the Exclude icon above then press Apply.

I've added the splitting and categorizing transaction articles for your reference. These resources help you organize your events properly and provide extra knowledge on how to split a single transaction between a business and personal, or into multiple categories.

Please let me know if you have other concerns about handling records in QuickBooks. I’m here to ensure your success. Have a good day.

I understand that I might have to exclude duplicates that may have been manually entered but I specifically purchased QuickBooks Self-Employed because of it's integration with Etsy. I downloaded a month of sales and fees from Etsy and compared it to what QuickBooks has and almost every transaction is a duplicate. I do not think going through hundreds of transactions looking for duplicates every month is a viable solution when QuickBooks offers this ability - "All of your transactions and seller fees are imported from Etsy and categorized automatically, so you can quickly see exactly what you earn and spend".

Hey there, @penelopemayandco.

Thanks for following up with us and sharing your concerns.

I've got a possible solution you can use to exclude all the duplicates at once. Just to clarify, do you see any notifications about duplicate transactions above your transaction list? If so, you can use these steps to clear them out:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. If we found possible duplicates, you’ll see a note (notification) at the top. Click on Delete duplicate transactions
  3. Select each group of duplicates and mark the copy you want to keep.
  4. Hit Keep marked transactions.

Please note: Any unchecked transactions will be permanently deleted.
