I have to re-reconcile my checking account from the beginning. How can I unreconcile everything and change the statement begin and end dates?

Hi there, Jim.

I understand that you need assistance with unreconciling transactions and changing the statement begin and end dates in QuickBooks Online. I'm here to help you with that.

If you need unreconciled transactions in your accounting records, there are two ways to go about it. The first option is to do it individually, which means you'll need to manually unreconcile each transaction one by one. The second option is to do it in bulk, which can save you time and effort if you have a large number of transactions to unreconcile. However, it's important to note that bulk unreconciling should only be done with the help of an accountant user

To unreconcile your transactions manually, here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the appropriate bank, then click View Register.
  3. Select the transaction to edit.
  4. Under the Check column, click the box repeatedly to change the status. ("C" - Cleared, "R" - Reconciled, and "Blank" - Not cleared or unreconciled)
  5. Click Save.

Unreconciling in bulk can be complicated and require a deeper understanding of accounting principles and practices. An accountant user can help ensure you don't accidentally unreconcile the wrong transactions or make other errors that could affect your financial records. They can also help you understand any potential implications of unreconciling certain transactions and advise you on how to proceed.

You can invite your accountant if you want to bulk unreconcile your transactions. Here's how:

  1. Click on the Gear Icon and select Manage Users.
  2. Go to the Accountants section and click Invite Accountant.
  3. They will be asked to create a user ID before signing for the first time unless they already have an account with Intuit Business Services.
  4. Until your accountant signs in, their status on the Manage Users page is "Invited." After accepting the invitation, their status changes to "Active."
  5. Click Next and Finish.

Once everything is okay, you can start and proceed with the normal reconciliation process, ensuring you enter the correct beginning and end dates. To learn about it, I've included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use to learn the reconciliation workflow in QuickBooks.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you encounter any issues or need further assistance. I'm here to help. Have a great day!
