I need to set up my business credit card similar to a checking account in Quickbooks-how do I do that?

Hey there, @Alyssa23. To set up your business credit card or any bank account in QuickBooks Online (QBO), you'll need to connect it to our software. The same goes for a checking account. I'll be glad to help you achieve that.

The option to link your business credit card account is available on the Banking Transactions page. Here's how:

  1. In the left panel menus, select Transactions and choose Banking Transactions.
  2. Click the Link Account tab from the left corner.
  3. Paste the URL or name of your business credit card provider in the Search field.
  4. Once you locate it, enter your sign info in the Login and Password fields, then pick Continue.
  5. Choose the credit card account you want to link and date to upload transactions from the Dropdown tab. Then, Next.
  6. Select the credit card as the Account Type. Ensure that it matches your Chart of Accounts (COA) in QuickBooks. Then, Save and Close.
  7. Map the bank account in the Existing Accounts dropdown, then click Next.
  8. Once done, pick Connect, then Done.

If you're referring to connecting your business credit card account via the COA, you can visit this article and go to the Connect your bank account from your Chart of Accounts section: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

However, if you're unable to locate the financial provider of your credit card account in QBO, you can manually upload your transactions

On top of that, please know that credit cards and checking accounts have different functions in the accounting process, so I recommend reaching out to your accountant to guide you in setting up your account in QuickBooks to avoid discrepancies in the future.

I'll also add this article if you want to use your credit card as a payment method by going to the In QuickBooks Online section: Add, edit, or disable a credit card.

You might want to categorize your bank transactions automatically in QBO. Feel free to visit this article to learn how: Set up bank rules to categorize online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, feel free to connect with QuickBooks Live Expert Assisted to further guide you in ensuring that the bank linked to your QuickBooks account are working accurately for a smooth banking tasks.

Let me know if you have additional questions about setting up your business credit card account in QBO. We'll assist you promptly. Take care, and have a good one.
