Imported bank transaction showing debit instead of credit

I have QuickBooks Simple Start. I'm having issues with bank transactions that are refunds from a supplier to my account. The refunds show as credits/deposits on my bank statements. However, when imported into QuickBooks they are showing as debits/withdrawals. I cannot determine how to correct this as I'm unable to edit the transaction to put the number in the correct column. As such, I cannot balance the account.

Please help. Thanks!

Let's work together and upload your bank transactions accurately, @threadspiration.

To begin with, you'll need to exclude your uploaded transactions and re-upload them. Excluding them ensures we steer away from uploading duplicates.

When you're ready to re-upload the transactions, ensure to use the appropriate CSV format and map the file correctly. QuickBooks Online (QBO) lets you upload CSV files in a 3-column or 4-column format. To learn more about this, feel free to check out this link: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.

To re-upload your file, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Select Upload transactions or Upload from file.
  3. Click the Drag and drop or select files box and select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then select Continue.
  4. From the QuickBooks account drop-down, select the account you want to upload the transactions into, then select Continue.
  5. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks, then select Continue2.PNG
  6. Select the transactions you would like to import and click Continue2.PNG
  7. Select Yes to import the transaction and click Done
