importing bank transactions

QB Desktop 2022 and cannot get bank transactions to import into QB.  Four phone calls to support, each over one hour.  I have contacted the bank and they assure me direct connect is turned on.  At my wits end and think I am going to have to truly MANUALLY type in each transaction date, amount, vendor, etc.  HORRIBLE and really frustrated in this moment.

importing bank transactions

I’ve got you covered, bullcra.

This isn’t the kind of experience I want to leave you when using the bank feeds feature. It’s my goal that you can import your bank transactions into QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) smoothly.

When you run into any roadblocks in bringing your bank data into QuickBooks, we’ll have to review your QBO file and check for any changes in your Financial Institution (FI). Thus, incomplete or wrong format and bank updates can create issues when importing entries.

Before proceeding, I have to ask for more details on what you’re experiencing. This is to see if we have a reported issue and ensures a timely solution. Can you provide the name of your Financial Institution (FI)? Did you encounter any error codes or messages when using direct connect and Webconnect?

While waiting for the information, let’s go ahead and perform some troubleshooting steps to successfully import your entries into the desktop program. To start, create a backup of your company file to prevent accidental loss. Update Internet Explorer to the latest version to get the best experience while working in QuickBooks.

Next, download your Web Connect file directly from your bank, not from inside QuickBooks. It only takes a few clicks to do this one.

Here’s how:

  1. Log in to your bank's website
  2. Find and download the Web Connect file (.qbo file).
  3. Then open QuickBooks and your company file and follow the steps to import the .qbo file.

If you see an error when downloading or importing the file, there may be an issue with your Financial Institution (FI). You’ll have to reach out to them for further assistance.

If you’re able to bring your bank data into the program, reset the bank connection. If the issue persists, follow the recommended instructions in this article: Fix Web Connect import errors. Proceed directly to Step 2 and then continue up to Step 5.

Once you have all your transactions imported into the company, add and match them to keep your records in order. You can bookmark this reference in your browser for future reference: Download Bank Feed transactions. It includes links to all bank feeds related activities such as deactivating an account, editing the online banking setting, and so on. Click on the topic to view the full article.

With this information, you can fetch the latest bank entries and record them to QuickBooks in no time.

Keep me posted if you have other QuickBooks concerns or questions about managing your bank feeds. I’ll jump right back in to assist further. Have a great weekend ahead.

Thank you Rasa-LiliM,

The bank is WestStar Bank QB DC in the list of institutions.  I have contacted the bank and they have assured me that Direct Connect is open for this checking account.  I downloaded the latest version of IE you suggested and downloaded the .qbo file from the bank's website just now.  Still get the attached error message.  Please, please help.

Thank you
