Welcome to the Community, @laurieleahy-leah. You're way ahead of tracking your business income and expenses.
When you connect your credit card and bank account in QuickBooks, it automatically pulls your most recent transactions right away from the last 90 days or as far as 24 months for some banks.
Also, the QuickBooks balance is the total of all bank transactions that have been added or matched with QuickBooks.
Though, there could be bank transactions that are causing the difference. Below are the lists of possible reasons why they don’t match:
You'll want to verify why they aren't matching and fix them accordingly. To review the transactions in the Reviewed tab, follow Step 3: Review transactions after you’ve matched or added them outlined in this article: Match and categorize bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
I also recommend reconciling your account monthly to make sure they match your actual bank and credit card statements.

Hello, I have transactions in my bank account from 4 days ago that have still not shown up on my QBS. This always happens. It can take even a week for a transaction to show from my bank account. Right now I need to reconcile the last 3 so I can close my bank account as I have opened a new one.
Hi SherrieF,
Welcome aboard to the Community. I'm here to assist you with your concern about the transactions in QuickBooks Banking.
QuickBooks Online automatically downloads transactions every night when you connect a bank account to online banking. However, the data will depend on what your bank shares with us.
If you don't want to wait for the scheduled download or it's still not reflecting, I recommend refreshing the connection to get the latest available transactions. You can click the Update button in QuickBooks Banking to check if your latest transactions will reflect.
Here's how:
Alternatively, you can download your data from your bank to bring over the latest transactions manually. You may need to edit the file to only upload the missing data you need to reconcile.
Sometimes, you may want to keep a downloaded transaction from going into your QuickBooks Register. I've attached a link you can visit to learn about the exclude process: Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online.
Drop a comment below if you have other concerns about your downloaded bank transactions. We'll get back to you. The Community and I will be around to help you.
