For those looking for the answer to the question:
In the banking screen, select the gear icon and uncheck the item listed as "copy bank detail to memo".
With this unchecked, the memo field in the register will not be populated with the information brought in from the bank

Let me point you in the right direction about your online banking concern.
The Memo field for downloaded entries is a built-in feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO), and the option to remove it is unavailable at this time. Also, the data we receive is dependent on what your Financial Institution (FI) sends over to us. I recommend you check the mapping of your transactions and make sure that there’s no information entered in the Memo field to prevent it from showing up in the register.

To speed up the review process, you can set up bank rules to categorize your online banking transactions. This way, you’ll no longer have to manually perform this process.

This will prevent the memo field in the register from populating with data from the bank when transactions are added.
