Linking a bank account (Swiss)

Hey there,

I have a Swiss client that would like to move his medium sized company to QBO.  The issue is that his bank account is Swiss (PostFinance) and I did not see that on the bank list of QBO.  He would like to be able to pay expenses through QBO (Swiss version) and also link the bank to easily reconcile his accounts.  Is it possible to link QBO with PostFinance to pay bills and do the bank rec?  Thanks,

Stephen

Have you open the trial account of QBO EU version and search the name of the bank?

Hi there, smmoore79.

Thanks for dropping by the Community today, if you're looking for help getting your client's bank account set up in QuickBooks then look no further. While the PostFinance bank may not be directly connected with QuickBooks, you can still manually add transactions and request support. What that will do is, it will put in a special request to have your clients bank added so that you don't have manually add transactions every time. Here's the information below you need to proceed.

Request support for your bank account:

  1. Go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu.
  2. Select Add account.
  3. Search for the name of your financial institution. If QuickBooks is unable to find your bank, you will get the message, "Hmm, we can’t find [name of the bank you entered] in our list of supported banks," and you will be presented with helpful tips to try and locate your bank account.
  4. If you’re still unable to find your bank, select Request support for your bank.
  5. Enter your bank's web address (URL) in the field provided, then select Request.

Additionally, here's how to upload more than 90 days of bank transactions through Web Connect or import bank transactions from Excel CSV file to QuickBooks Online

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to post here anytime, night or day. Thanks for your time and I hope you have an excellent day.

I just searched the EU link but it did not appear.  Though it does have a "Request" option after.  I hope that will work

Thank you for the detailed response.  So basically if I click "request" with the website www.postfinance.ch, the Quickbooks team will try to add this bank to the list?

Just one more quick question, if the Swiss bank account gets set up, can I pay bills (both national and international) via Quickbooks?  Thanks!

Thanks for getting back to us, smmoore79.

Allow me to step in and share some information regarding linking your Swiss bank account.

Once you submit a request to add the PostFinance to the list of supporting banks, QuickBooks and Swiss will work closely to provide a seamless

connection.

Regarding paying bills (national and international), yes, QuickBooks accepts global payments via worldwide wire transfers. You just need to ensure that your multi-currency is turned on to avoid syncing issues.

To get more details about this process, check out this article: Send international payments using Bill Pay for QuickBooks Online. This will provide you steps on how to add foreign vendors as well as steps to do wire payments.

If you have any questions about this topic or anything else in QuickBooks, let me know in the comment section. I'll be glad to share and provide further assistance whenever you need one. Have a wonderful day! Take care.

@pthompson1

I have yet to find any bank in Switzerland supporting QB Online Global version for Switzerland.

Ask your friend to open a Wise business account as the workaround. They can accept payments and manage multi currencies, then utilize the bank feeds. They can withdraw balances to their local banks easily.

Thanks, so this would be for a small Swiss association. If there is no linking to Post Finance ten it would not work. Im a big fan of Wise, but this works best when you have income in a currency that you can hold a wise account in. So GBP fantastic, CHF not so much. Thanks

You can have bank details to accept payments in EUR, USD, and other major currencies (not only GBP). The EUR account will be managed by a bank registered in Belgium.
