Linking Different Credit Cards to Multiple QuickBooks Online Companies

Hello,

The company I work for has 6 different American Express cards that I can view under the same AMEX login. Three of these cards are for different companies, and I need to link them to the 3 different QuickBooks companies?

Is this possible? I have two cards linked to one company file but am not able to link the other cards to a different company file and keep getting the error message "There was a problem connecting to your bank. Try again later. (105)".

The cards were working when these were first setup and now they are not. Has anyone else had this situation and were you able to fix it?

Thank you for your help.

Linking Different Credit Cards to Multiple QuickBooks Online Companies

Yes, you can link different credit cards to different companies, RealEstateFinance_Prof. I'll help you get past the error.

Some users also encounter this message when our program is unable to connect to the credit card's website. This error usually fixes itself within 24 hours.

We can manually update the account to fix it, though. This process refreshes the connection between QuickBooks Online and the credit card's website. Here's how:

  1. Click Banking.
  2. Go to the Banking tab.
  3. Select the credit card account, then click Update.

If you're still experiencing the same error after 72 hours, I'd suggest reaching out to our customer care support. An agent will investigate the error further. Here's how:

  1. Click Help inside QuickBooks Online.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter "Error 105" in the description field, then click Let's talk.
  4. Select either Start messaging or Get a callback

Let me also share the reference on what to do if bank transactions won’t download or there's a bank error. This will help you if you don't see any recent transactions downloaded from your bank or credit card account.

We're just around if you have other banking concerns. Feel free to swing by any time.

Linking Different Credit Cards to Multiple QuickBooks Online Companies

Thank you for the steps to take. I contacted QuickBooks support and the tech said it was "very bizarre" that this was happening and was not able to isolate the problem.

He suggested I call American Express which I did and they said I am not able to connect different credit cards to multiple company files.

I am sure I am not the only person with this issue and I am hoping someone has been able to make this work successfully as I would like to be able to automate the transactions rather than having to do a manual upload of these files.

Any further assistance you can provide would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Linking Different Credit Cards to Multiple QuickBooks Online Companies

Hello, @RealEstateFinance_Prof

You can try to clear your browser's cache to resolve this error you're having. There are times that the browser you're using has information stored that's stopping or causing the error with the bank connection.

But first, try to log in to your account using a private browser or an incognito window Then, you may clear the cache in the one that you're currently using if it works. Here’s how:

  • For Chrome, press Ctrl+Shift+N.
  • For Internet Explorer or Firefox, press Ctrl+Shift+P.
  • For Safari, hold down Command+Shift+N.

If it works, here's how to delete or disable cache and temporary internet files in your web browser.

Once you're done clearing your browser's cache, restart your browser for the changes to take effect. If not, try using other browsers.

I'm always here if you need help with your bank. Have a wonderful day!
