Lost bank connection in November 2021

My predecessor lost the bank connection in November of 2021 and did not try to reconnect.  I have now inherited this problem.  The bank helped me on their end and I installed Authy for authorization.  However I still cannot connect from QB to the bank.  QB tells me it can't find this account and try to reconnect.  When I do it does not give the choice to reconnect to my checking account - only the savings which I do not need.  Please help.

Try opening your QBO account on any private/incognito browser. Another option, utilize the trial version of MT Online to isolate the issue. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed. If the same error persists, there is an ongoing problem at your bank or connection.

Lost bank connection in November 2021

I appreciate you for laying out the details of your concern, @Roz8.

I'll make sure you'll be able to connect your bank to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In addition to Fiat Lux - ASIA added, can you share with us the name of the bank you're trying to reconnect? Any additional information can help us narrow things down.

In the meantime, I recommend uploading your bank transactions. This way, you can still manage them in your QBO account.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your Bank website and follow the instructions to download your transactions as QBO, .CSV, or .QFX file (maximum file size 350KB).
  2. Then go to the Banking or Transactions menu in your QBO.
  3. Select Upload transactions or Upload from file.
  4. Click the Drag and drop or select files box and select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then select Continue.
  5. From the QuickBooks account drop-down, select the account you want to upload the transactions into, then click Continue.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks, then select Continue
  7. Select the transactions you would like to import and click Continue
  8. Click Yes to import the transaction and then Done

You can also see this article for more details about the process: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Once done, you might want to utilize this resource for guidance in organizing your transactions: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

In case you have any other questions connecting your bank and managing your transactions, please don't hesitate to tag me in your reply. I'll be here to assist you.
