Memorized bank deposits

When I set a memorized bank deposit I select the bank where the funds are to be received.  When I memorize the new transaction, close it and reopen it to record the memorized deposit the bank to which the funds are to deposited has been changed to a different in my account list.  The is consistent with all my memorized deposits.  I have change the deposit to the correct bank and memorized it again and the same thing happens again.  How do I correct this condition?   Thank you for your help.   Roger H Dumm e-mail  [email address removed]

Memorized bank deposits

I appreciate you for performing some troubleshooting steps to get the memorized bank deposit working, ffboat78.

You are doing the right way by changing the bank account for the memorized bank deposit. This will be posted to the correct account and QuickBooks automatically record the deposit on the date and frequency you choose. To better isolate this one, let's try opening another company file to check if you're having a problem with only one file and not the program itself. Let me show you how:

  1. In your QuickBooks, go to the File menu at the top left.
  2. Choose Close Company.
  3. In the No Company Open window, click the drop-down arrow in the Open a sample file icon.
  4. Choose a sample file and click on it.

Then, try memorizing the deposit transaction again by following the steps in the Record and make bank deposits in QuickBooks Desktop article. Then, go to Record recurring deposits section for the steps and details.

If it works, the Memorize Deposit feature may be damaged that's why it's not working as it's supposed to be. We can try re-sorting the Memorized Transaction list to fix any issues. Before doing this, just create a backup company file first. Just in case you ever run into problems, we can use your backup to restore your data. Here's how:

  1. Go to Lists on the top menu.
  2. Choose Memorized Transaction List.
  3. Tick the Memorized Transaction drop-down and select Re-sort List.
  4. Tap Yes to return the list to its original order.

If the same something happens, there may be a damaged data on the company file you've been working with. We can run the Rebuild Data tool is built-in to fix any company file data issues.  Just follow the steps and detail in his article: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Feel free to reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Take care always.

The information was very helpful, but it did not solve my problem.  However, I was able to solve it with the help of the information provided.  The following is what I determined was the problem:

First, I opened one of the sample companies in QuickBooks and then I created two memorized deposits which worked just fine when I posted them.  Then I created a second bank account number.  When I open the memorized deposits, the original bank account number I had entered in the memorize the deposit had changed to the new bank account number.  This happen to both of the memorized deposits.  I then created a third bank account number and the same thing happen.  The memorized deposits now had the third bank account number.  In both cases when I changed the bank account number back to the original, I memorized the deposit again.  I then closed the memorized deposit.  When I reopened the memorized deposits the bank account number had changed back to the third bank account number.

Then I opened my working QuickBooks file.  Every memorized deposit had the wrong account number.  When I made a single letter change in the bank account name and went back to my memorized deposits, everyone had the new (correct) account number for the deposit account.  I repeated this several times with several of my other bank account numbers and every time a change was made to account name all of my memorized deposit accounts had changed to the new account number.  Regardless of what I did I could not get the correct bank account number until I made a change to the account number name that I wanted.

I hope this information is of help to you and thanks again for your help.
